ALCYONE is an exceptional live electronic dance music act that has established itself with distinctive and innovative explorations into deep / tech house, trance, breaks, dub and ambient electronica.

Producer / keyboardist Alex Newman (U.K.) and vocalist / composer Suzanne Sterling (S.F.) draw upon several years of studio and stage experience to create a sound that is exciting, stylish, and highly danceable. They have been causing a stir with their dynamic live show and polished studio output, and have recently signed an exclusive recording contract with prominent electronic dance label System Recordings (NYC).

Newman and Sterling combine brilliant compositions with a compelling stage presence and musicianship to make Alcyone a sensational live experience. Their sound: a mix-up of deep chunky grooves, multi-layered synth textures, fiery percussion, and passionate, soaring vocals has made Alcyone a popular choice with clubbers, festival-goers and all-night party people; and has led to peak-time performances at well-known west coast events such as Earthdance, Harmony Festival, Burning Man's "Sol System", Solfest, Anon Salon's "Sea of Dreams" (LA & SF), San Francisco Decompression and many more.

Such accomplishment in the field of electronic dance music doesn't appear overnight: Newman and Sterling bring a rich legacy of experience to their current sound from their work as producer and lead vocalist of internationally renowned, pioneering electronic dance act Medicine Drum. Newman and Sterling have toured the USA extensively and performed internationally with Medicine Drum as keyboardist and lead vocalist - including the 2005 Australian tour, shows in Japan, and as the opening band for popular live act Sound Tribe Sector 9 on their 2003 US tour.

Classically-trained Alex Newman has produced co-written and engineered over half a dozen albums, including Medicine Drum's 2003 third album "Original Face", released in 2003 by CyberOctave/Virgin, which was given a rave review by Billboard: "A Major Thrill... one cool track after another". Each year his composition, "Prayer for Peace" is played simultaneously by DJ's worldwide in over 100 locations as the pinnacle of Earthdance, the world's largest synchronized music and dance festival.

Alcyone vocalist Suzanne Sterling is an esteemed songwriter, lyricist and classically trained singer, and has received critical acclaim nationwide as a performer and a recording artist. In addition to her work as lead vocalist with Alcyone and Medicine Drum she is well known for her work with "Bhakti", "Skyclad " and "Kali's Angels" and her music has been commissioned for theatre, film and video - including "Gifting It" - an award winning documentary film about Burning Man Festival. She also recently completed the music for the bestselling yoga DVDs "Vinyasa Flow Yoga I & II with Seane Corne", produced by Gaiam Inc.

Joining Alcyone in live performance, percussionist Jason "Drumfire" brings years of professional experience and an added sonic dimension. A virtuoso with Congas, Bongos, Timbales and Djembe, he has already made a strong impression on the electronic dance music world as percussionist with two other bands - "Late Night Sneaky" and Om Records' internationally-known live act "Afro-Mystik". Although self described as a "Drum Animal" he plays with precise speed and grace - as well as power and groove.
